Wednesday, July 22 Maariv & Chanting Eicha - 8:00 PM Ma'ariv will be followed by chanting the book of Eicha (Lamentations) and singing special songs for the holiday. Please bring a flashlight or candle, as lights will be dimmed during the chanting of Eicha. Thursday, July 23 Morning Service - 7:30 AM The service will include special Torah and Haftarah readings. Celebrate Hanukkah with incredible music, games, and food! Fun for all ages! Join us for an afternoon full of fun, Hanukkah food and music with The LeeVees, making their first appearance in the DMV in over a decade! The LeeVees features Adam Gardner from Guster and Dave Schneider from The Zambonis who, with their incredible band, play original Hanukkah rock music. Don’t miss this chance to light up your Hanukkah with great vibes and great company! Doors open at 3:00 pm with a Hanukkah Carnival featuring a wide array of (free) games and activities. Your concert ticket also includes latkes and sufganiyot (Hanukkah donuts). The concert begins at 4:00 pm and ends with a Hanukkah candle lighting. This event will take place in Potomac, Maryland. The specific location will be sent in advance to those who have purchased tickets. This concert is the kickoff to Washington Hebrew Congregation’s 175th Anniversary and is presented in partnership with Camps Airy & Louise, URJ Camp Harlam , and URJ 6 Points Specialty Camps (Sports, Creative Arts and Science/Tech) with more co-sponsors to be announced soon. Tickets are $36 each or a Family Four-Pack for $108 (+ service fees).

A two-part experience for couples of different faiths and cultural backgrounds to explore Shabbat as something we build together — in our own way. Two Voices, Four Elements Afternoon Tea Sunday, August 9 | 2:00 PM-4:00 PM | Pozez JCC A first gathering of conversation, reflection, and shared discovery. Together, we will explore Shabbat as a moment of pause and connection, and begin to notice how ideas of light, food, rest, and celebration appear across different cultures and traditions. It’s a space to slow down, share stories, and begin shaping what Shabbat could mean for each couple. Shabbat We Create Together: Dinner Friday, August 28 | 6:30 PM-9:00 PM | Pozez JCC A shared Shabbat evening around the table, where reflection becomes experience. Together, we will step into a lived Shabbat — shaped by the people in the room, the stories we bring, and the traditions we carry. It is an invitation to experience Shabbat not as something fixed, but as something we create together. Fee: $110 per JCC Member Couple/ $120 per Non-member Couple. Embracing every aspect of Jewish life: faith, ritual, philosophy, language, peoplehood, ethics, there were no topics his great mind didn’t confront. A fearless visionary, his bold proposals created a generational agenda for change, revision, innovation, all for the sake of translating Jewish insight into the idiom and science of modernity. It was his expectation that Jews of all stripes would flock to this progressive reconstruction, each in their own way. What happened along the way? How did he succeed in changing American Jewish life forever? And how did his insights miss important emotional, religious, and social realities that limited the spread of his ideas? A rarefied intellectual from Newark, NJ, Berg played as a catcher for five major league teams… and was also a spy for the OSS during WWII as part of the effort to undermine the German atomic bomb program. Rare archival footage and interviews with historians, sportswriters, and espionage experts unravel this stranger-than-fiction story.
