S.N.A.P. is for you!

Special Needs Assistance Program

Learn how to help an individual who is experiencing difficulty in their congregational school or youth group.

As a S.N.A.P. volunteer, you will work between 2-4 times per month as a school aide or youth group buddy. Your assistance will enable many students and peers in your community to have greater success in school and social activities.

WHO: Teenagers entering 9th-12th grade in the 2008-2009 school year.

WHAT: Participate in S.N.A.P. (Special Needs Assistance Program)
to learn how to work with children and teenagers with
special learning needs or disabilities.

WHEN: Training days will take place August 18, 19 and 20 from 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm; and September 7 and 21 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Placements in congregational schools and youth groups will begin in the Fall of 2008.

WHERE: Training will take place at the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning in Rockville and placements will be based on availability and location preference.

WHY:
- Learn about yourself, special education, and Judaism’s views on disabilities and inclusion
- Meet other Jewish teens from the Washington
Metropolitan area
- Receive community service credit and/or possible stipends
- Receive a National Service Award
