Letter to Mr. Roger Cukierman

Mr. Roger Cukierman
President
Conseil Representatif des Institutions juives de France

Dear Mr. Cukierman,

As Shabbat comes to a close here in Washington, DC, our hearts are heavy. On behalf of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, please accept our deepest condolences for the many French lives lost during these horrific days.

Please extend our condolences to the families of Yoav Hattab, Philippe Braham, Yohan Cohen and François-Michel Saada, all of whom were killed in the kosher supermarket; all of whom were Jews. Nos coeurs sont unis avec la communauté juive de France. May their names be for a blessing.

The violence directed at the staff of Charlie Hebdo, the Jewish community and indeed, all of France, is aimed at each of us who hold dear the freedom of expression, press and ideas.

As we surely pray for peace, we must continue to stand strong against terrorism and those who seek to destroy our way of life.

La communauté juive de Washington, DC se tiens unis avec la communauté juive de France. Please convey our deepest sympathy to the bereaved families along with our wishes for a speedy recovery to those who were injured.

Sincerely,

Liza Levy, President
Steven Rakitt, CEO
Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, DC
