#SnapforInclusion

Celebrate Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month
Join Federation this February as we use social media to show the world how inclusive Greater Washington can be.

My name is Lauren Chmara and I am a junior at Bullis School.  My hobbies include dancing, tennis, water sports, traveling, theatre, and social media.  I have volunteered with a variety of organizations since I was in the third grade.  Most recently I have focused on supporting people with developmental disabilities by volunteering with several organizations including The Jewish Foundation for Group Homes and the TOPSoccer program.  I am honored to have received the JFGH teen volunteering award.  Also, for the past two years, I have been participating in the Charles E. Smith H2YP program. This gives me experience in understanding philanthropy and project funding. My role as a member of this committee is to review proposals and attend presentations delivered by various departments of the Charles E. Smith Life Communities and to select awardees using proposal criteria and priorities.

I believe that every human being is significant and should be valued and respected. I am proud to be a member of the Disability Inclusion Committee.  I am committed to actively supporting the mission by creating and leading the “Snap for Inclusion” Project to promote inclusion through a social media campaign that offers a creative opportunity to widen participation and to expand awareness about the importance of true inclusion.
