Through history, music, culture, and ideas, we’ll examine the changing role of Jews in America, the influence of Jewish composers and artists, the history of Mah Jongg, and American Jewish perspectives on nationhood and identity.
Session Topics:
July 8: The Role of Jews as Citizens in America and the DMV, with Lauren Strauss and Rabbi Jeffrey Saxe
July 15: America’s Most Influential Jewish Composers, with Cantor Michael Shochet and Cantor Sydney Michaeli
July 21: The Jewish History of Mah Jongg, with Professor Annelise Heinz and Rabbi Sarah Tasman
July 29: Prayers for Our Country: American Jewish Voices on Nation and Identity, with Rabbi Alexandra Stein
