Nancy Duber
[By giving to Federation] you can touch more Jewish lives across the world than any other organization.
The Duber family planted its roots in Washington 40 years ago and have made tikkun olam – repairing the world – a priority. Nancy grew up in Canton, MA, and was greatly influenced by the Jewish value of tzedakah (charitable giving), which pervaded her childhood.
That value guided her as she served as a founding member of Congregation B’nai Tzedek in Potomac, MD, and generally built a life centered around philanthropy.
Nancy met her husband Marc at American University, and they have since created a meaningful Jewish life with their children and grandchildren.
As longtime supporters of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, Nancy and Marc are part of Federation’s Roots Society, and have also established an endowment fund through the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Washington (formerly Federation’s United Jewish Endowment Fund) to care for the Jewish community in the long-term.
Nancy has chaired several strategic and event committees, volunteering her time and encouraging others to do the same. As a Federation Lion of Judah, Nancy and her family are catalysts of change during their many years of generous giving. Nancy also serves on Federation’s Board of Directors.
As Nancy shares, “[by giving to Federation] you can touch more Jewish lives across the world than any other organization.” She also cited Federation’s ability to respond in times of uncertainty or crisis as a reason for her longtime support.
Nancy and Marc continue to lead efforts on behalf of our Jewish community. Today, they are co-chairing Federation’s LiveSecure initiative for Greater Washington, part of a national security campaign to provide the training, resources, and tools to protect our community’s institutions, places of worship, and centers of Jewish life.
