Tikvat Israel RainScape Beginnings
Join us as we prepare the grounds for our RainScape! A RainScape is a landscape design technique that helps reduce stormwater runoff. Since we are located next to Rock Creek we want to prevent stormwater and pollution from flowing into storm drains and the nearby stream. In the fall, we will be bringing our vision to life by planting various native plant species that will help trap the water runoff from the roof and let it soak into the ground instead of flowing into the parking lot and down the hill into the creek. But in order to be successful in the fall, we need to prepare the ground now in the spring! We will be spreading a thin layer of compost and then a thicker layer of woodchips on top. By the time we’re ready to plant this fall, the ground will be well prepared, and our chances of success will be that much greater.
Come out this Sunday (4/12) for some gardening and good cheer 🙂
Garden rakes and equipment will be provided, but bring your own if you feel inclined.
This event will start at 9am and go until 1pm. Look for us in the front parking lot next to the playground!
