Dr Martin Luther King Jr Commemorative Shabbat

Joshua Maxey is the guest speaker for Temple Emanuel’s 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Commemorative Shabbat. Prozdor reception at 6:00pm followed by service at 6:30pm.

Joshua Maxey (he/him) is the Executive Director of Bet Mishpachah, DC’S LGBTQ+ synagogue. Josh has a passion for Tikkun Olam and working to create spaces of belonging within the Jewish community.

Josh is also a member of Washington Hebrew Congregation where he serves on the SEA Change Racial Equity Committee, board of directors and organizer of the Jews of affinity space.

Josh is also a member of the Board Community Leadership Council for the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington; Franciscan Mission Service; the Forward Association; and the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center.

Temple Emanuel has hosted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Shabbats since 1987.
