The documentary WE MET AT GROSSINGER’S is a joyfully nostalgic journey through the Jewish Catskills—the Borscht Belt—told through the rise and fall of its crown jewel, Grossinger’s Resort and Hotel (the inspiration for the movie Dirty Dancing).
It was an oasis of belonging for generations of Jewish immigrants facing prejudice: a sanctuary of identity and joy. With guests ranging from Jackie Robinson to Eddie Fisher to Eleanor Roosevelt, it became a place where Jewish Americans and other marginalized communities redefined acceptance and freedom.
