Partnering with Federation
Federation Affiliation Guidelines
The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington brings people, resources, and ideas together to strengthen Jewish life across our region. We partner with organizations on programs, events, and initiatives that advance shared priorities and create meaningful impact for the community.
Our involvement is most effective when there is a clear role for Federation and a defined purpose beyond visibility or promotion.
Before You Submit a Request
To help ensure alignment and make the most of our collective efforts, we encourage partners to consider:
- What is the objective of this opportunity?
- Who is the audience you are trying to reach?
- What role would Federation play beyond promotion?
- What outcome are you hoping to achieve?
Opportunities that are most successful typically have a clear objective, audience, role, and intended outcome.
Ways to Partner with Federation
Depending on the nature of the request and organizational capacity, Federation involvement may include:
- Sponsorship or co-hosting
- Programmatic participation (e.g., speakers or content)
- Strategic collaboration aligned with shared priorities
- Funding (when available and aligned)
- In select cases, visibility or promotion in support of a broader effort
The appropriate level of involvement is determined through a review process and may vary by request.
What to Expect
All requests are reviewed to determine whether Federation involvement is appropriate and at what level. Requests may be approved, approved with conditions, or declined.
Approval confirms Federation’s specific role and scope of involvement and does not imply broader sponsorship, promotion, or funding beyond what is explicitly outlined.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, requests must:
- Be submitted through the required request form, with clear details and rationale
- Align with Federation’s mission, priorities, and strategic focus areas
- Demonstrate a clear role for Federation within the effort
- Avoid conflicts with existing Federation programs or initiatives
Requests are evaluated based on alignment and feasibility, including the ability to meet applicable operational, security, insurance, and data requirements.
For Approved Events
For approved requests, Federation will confirm its role, scope of involvement, and any requirements in writing.
Depending on the nature of the affiliation:
- Federation’s name and/or logo may appear on marketing materials, as approved
- Standard partnership language may be required
- A content disclaimer may apply
- Any material changes to speakers, format, or program content must be shared with Federation in advance
Priority Consideration
Priority consideration is given to Federation partner agencies, synagogues, and recognized Jewish organizations serving Greater Washington, particularly where there is strong alignment with Federation’s strategic priorities and community impact goals.
Timing and Requests
Requests should be submitted with sufficient lead time to allow for thoughtful review, coordination, and any required approvals.
Submission of a request does not guarantee approval, and some forms of involvement may not be possible without advance planning.
