As we move forward from Yom HaShoah, we are reminded of the importance of reflecting on our shared history and the profound strength of our Jewish community. The stories of Holocaust survivors are not just a part of our past—they are an integral part of our collective identity. These powerful narratives continue to guide us as we face today’s challenges, underscoring the enduring resilience of our people.
In that spirit, I’ve also been reflecting this week on the value of diversity of thought within our Jewish community. In a world that often feels divided, embracing our differences is more important than ever. Our strength lies in the richness of our perspectives and experiences—challenging us to think more critically, engage more thoughtfully, and grow together.
Our shared history, coupled with our collective hopes for the future, can guide us through the complexities of our differences—both within our community and beyond. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient future for generations to come. Read more

Honoring Our Past, Shaping Our Future
This year’s Yom Ha’Shoah commemoration at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington is a time for our community to come together and honor those whose stories we must never forget. Featuring keynote speaker Frank Cohn, this meaningful event is complemented by the Kindertransport Memory Quilts and Portraits of Life exhibits, both on display throughout April, offering a poignant reflection on survival, resilience, and the power of memory.
