Partnering with Federation

Federation Affiliation Guidelines

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington partners with organizations on programs, events, and initiatives that strengthen Jewish life, foster collaboration, and serve both individual and communal needs.

Federation involvement may range from visibility and promotion to sponsorship and co-hosting. Each level of affiliation comes with different responsibilities, expectations, and requirements.

Ways to Partner with Federation

Depending on the nature of the request and organizational capacity, Federation involvement may include:

  • Visibility or listing
  • Sponsorship or promotional support
  • Programmatic participation (e.g., speakers or content)
  • Funding (when available and aligned)
  • Hosting or co-hosting

The appropriate level of involvement is determined through a review process and may vary by request.

What to Expect

All requests are reviewed to determine whether Federation involvement is appropriate and at what level. Requests may be approved, approved with conditions, or declined.

Approval confirms Federation’s specific role and scope of involvement and does not imply broader sponsorship, promotion, or funding beyond what is explicitly outlined.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered, requests must:

  • Be submitted through the required request form, with clear details and rationale
  • Align with Federation’s mission, values, and priorities
  • Avoid conflicts with existing Federation programs or initiatives

Requests are evaluated based on alignment and feasibility, including the ability to meet applicable operational, security, insurance, and data requirements.

For Approved Events

For approved requests, Federation will confirm its role, scope of involvement, and any requirements in writing.

Depending on the nature of the affiliation:

  • Federation’s name and/or logo may appear on marketing materials, as approved
  • Standard partnership language may be required
  • A content disclaimer may apply
  • Any material changes to speakers, format, or program content must be shared with Federation in advance

Priority Consideration

Priority consideration is given to requests from Federation partner agencies, synagogues, and recognized Jewish organizations serving Greater Washington.

Timing and Requests

Requests should be submitted with sufficient lead time to allow for review, coordination, and any required approvals.

Submission of a request does not guarantee approval, and some forms of involvement may not be possible without advance planning.
