Federation grants $100,000 to first-time campers

For the past eight years, The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington has partnered with The Foundation for Jewish Camp’s One Happy Camper, a program that facilitates 100% Federation-funded grant distribution for first-year Jewish overnight campers. In 2018, Federation increased our One Happy Camper allocation from $54,000 to $104,000, providing $50,000 in additional grant funding for our Northern Virginia families.

The One Happy Camper program works to inspire new campers to try Jewish overnight camp through incentive grants. The program was developed to engage Jews who find themselves on the margins or even outside of Jewish life. Federation remains steadfast in our commitment to ensure all children can discover a deep connection to Jewish community, values, culture and tradition. One Happy Camper shares Federation’s belief that “children with pivotal Jewish camp experiences are more likely to become adults who value their Jewish heritage, support Jewish causes, and take on leadership roles in their communities.”
