About Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh

Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh Headshot

Israeli Druze politician and journalist Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh has a history of breaking barriers.

Born to a Druze family in the village of Daliyat al-Karmel on Mount Carmel, Gadeer served as the first Druze woman to anchor a Hebrew-language news program on Israeli television, the first female Druze member of Israel’s legislature (from April 2019 – April 2021), and now, as the first Druze to serve as an Israeli emissary for the Jewish Agency. Kamal-Mreeh balances national and local responsibilities to forge meaningful connections between Israel and world Jewry.

As we welcome Gadeer to Greater Washington, we look forward to learning from her to strengthen our Jewish communal connection to Israel. Her unique perspective will help foster dialogue and shape immersive experiences, beginning with the ability to help train and support campus advocates through a unique partnership with Hillel International.
