Celebrating our Communal Leaders

Today marks 100 days since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Federation continues to work closely with our partners on the ground in the region and collaborate with organizations throughout the United States to organize resettlement for displaced Ukrainians. Stay up to date with our work in Ukraine at shalomdc.org/ukraine-emergency-updates. Thank you for your continued support and to those who have contributed so generously to our Ukraine Emergency Fund.

For all its challenges, this past year was paved by collective accomplishments — thanks to you, our generous donors, passionate community members, and visionary leaders. Together, we cared for one another, continued to reimagine Jewish life, and moved Greater Washington towards a vibrant Jewish future.

At Federation’s upcoming Annual Meeting on June 16th, we’ll have the opportunity to welcome our newest cohort of phenomenal leaders to our Board of Directors. They will join the ranks of the many leaders who have dedicated their time, talent, and resources to help lead our community through times of calm and crisis.

I could not be more grateful or honored to work alongside each and every one of you.

In addition to welcoming our incoming Board members and thanking those who conclude their terms this month, I am also thrilled that this year’s Federation Annual Meeting will celebrate our inaugural Capital Chai honorees.

This incredible group of 18 leaders under 40 from across Greater Washington are shaping and reshaping our community. They are addressing complex challenges to strengthen American society and the Jewish community by channeling their passions into action – from the artistic to the political to the technological and more – to make this world a better place. While they are part of our “Next Gen,” the Capital Chai and their peers aren’t just leaders of tomorrow; they are actively making a difference in our community today.

I am proud and excited for the opportunity to honor and celebrate them, to toast to leadership across our Jewish community, and to be together in person with so many of you after far too long apart. I look forward to seeing you on June 16th for this wonderful event. Register at shalomdc.org.
