The band is uniquely comprised of members from varied Jewish denominations and upbringings\, creating an entertainment experience that has been universally acclaimed across the globe by Jewish organizations and individuals from equally varied backgrounds and generations. \nThis year\, Tikvat Israel Congregation will be featuring two concerts by the renowned a cappella group\, Six13 taking place on May 31 at Richard Montgomery High School. The first concert at 1:00 p.m. will be a performance focused on music for children under age eight followed later in the day at 4:00 p.m. with a full concert which will be enjoyed by people of all ages. They will engage our community for a conversation touching on Jewish education and parenting in advance of the release of Rachel’s upcoming book\, When We See You Again. \nRachel and Jon were thrust into the international spotlight in October 2023 following the kidnapping of their son Hersh\, z’l. Despite their devastating loss\, they remained steadfast in their quest for the freedom of every hostage held by Hamas. DESCRIPTION:2026 marks both the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the 150th anniversary of Adas Israel Congregation’s historic synagogue. The convergence of these anniversaries is no coincidence. The synagogue’s founders timed its dedication to the nation’s centennial\, affirming Jewish belonging and patriotism in the American story. To commemorate this important milestone\, the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum will hold a celebration on June 9\, the 150th anniversary of the building’s dedication.

We modified the schedule to help accommodate our young professionals\, so Shabbat activities start a little later. \nAt 6:30 pm and again after the service: Have something to eat (to tide you over or as your dinner)\, a drink (we offer a full bar\, plus non-alcoholic options)\, and connect with your community. Kids are always welcome\, and they’ll be able to eat before (and after) the service\, play Connect 4\, or create at a coloring table. \n7:00 pm – Our Shabbat service begins. \nAfter the service – Stay for dessert\, or more food and drinks! \nFor our Young Professionals in 2239 (or just those aged 22-39)\, there is an optional dinner following the service. \nSpecial thanks to our musicians who add so much to the service. We wouldn’t have them without the support of the Irene & Abe Pollin Music Program Initiative.

SUMMARY:The Art of Mordecai Ardon
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Ardon’s 130th Birthday with Jewish Art Education through this virtual public program! \nMordecai Ardon was born in Galicia (now Poland) and studied with Paul Klee at the Bauhaus in Germany during the 1920s. He immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1933. He painted the landscape as a mystical and luminescent experience and paid homage to Jerusalem. He used symbols to memorialize those lost during the Holocaust and was one of Israel’s greatest painters. \nEnjoy his powerful art\, included in the slideshow as well as the in-depth narration. \nThe presentation will be recorded. All registrants will receive a link to the recording\, which will be available for 14 days. \nFunds raised from our public programs will be used to assist organizations that could not otherwise afford our regular program fees.
