SUMMARY:ReelAbilities Film Screening: “The Trouble with Mr. Doodle” (New Date)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special screening of “The Trouble with Mr. Doodle\,” a 90-minute documentary from the acclaimed makers of “Exit Through the Gift Shop\, Searching for Sugar Man\,” and “Man on Wire.” This intimate film explores the world of Sam Cox—known globally as Mr. Doodle—whose compulsive\, all-consuming drawings transformed him into an international sensation. With social media videos viewed by millions\, Cox’s work reveals the delicate balance between creativity and chaos\, and the profound impact art can have on everyday life. As he navigates fame\, relationships\, and mental health\, Cox and his family learn to embrace his singular vision and the unexpected beauty it brings. \nAfter the film\, stay inspired and get creative with a 30-minute freestyle doodle experience. Grab some markers and draw freely—no pressure\, no rules. Choose a theme if you’d like\, or simply let the chaos lead the way\, just like Mr. Doodle. \nFee: $10 Members/$15 Non-members

SUMMARY:Day at the J: Ahava Edition
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the pilot launch of Day at the J\, a new twice-monthly Saturday afternoon program bringing families with young children together at the EDCJCC! \nOur theme is Ahava (love in Hebrew) – celebrating love in all its forms just in time for the season. While adults enjoy a screening of the classic romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally (a tribute to director Rob Reiner) and connect with other parents\, kids will explore the theme of love through hands-on activities including crafts\, dancing\, building projects\, and more. \nDay at the J offers flexible programming where families can drop in for supervised play and activities\, relax in adult social spaces\, or participate together. It’s designed to be low-pressure\, consistent\, and a place where DC families can build community and deepen their connection to Jewish life. \nWe’ll close the afternoon with a community Havdalah\, bringing everyone together to mark the end of Shabbat in a welcoming\, accessible way. \nThis is our pilot program\, and we’d love your feedback as we build this new community tradition! \nThis program is presented by the Edlavitch DCJCC in partnership with The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.

SUMMARY:2239 Havdalah Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Havdalah Yoga is back on February 21st!\nJoin us at the EDCJCC as we set intentions for the new year during an inspiring and relaxing yoga practice. After class\, catch up with old friends or meet your new besties as we enjoy light refreshments and start the new week together with joy. \nTickets are $15 for members\, $18 for non-members. \nClass is open to everyone of all levels and will be taught by WHC’s amazing Stephanie Tankel. \nStephanie became a certified yoga and meditation instructor in 2016. She loves meshing the ancient traditions of Judaism and yoga\, believing they have far more in common than most see on the surface. Her “day job” is Director of Lifelong Learning at WHC. When not practicing yoga or work\, Stephanie loves walking anywhere\, binging shows\, or accidentally spending too much time sucked into the vortex of social media (strong preference for nature/animal videos)! She lives with her husband\, a rescued mutt\, and their three kids in NW DC. \nExpect a beautifully blended class of yoga + Judaism. Can’t wait to see you there!
