DESCRIPTION:Crafty Tots is a multi-sensory experience designed for our littlest artists. Each class begins with story time to spark imagination and inspire the arts and crafts project. Caregivers will participate alongside their child\, making it a special bonding experience filled with mess\, imagination\, and lots of smiles. Each class also includes free time at the end for children to connect\, move around\, and get their wiggles out in our fun play space. This class will be lead by Ally Jakov\, Bender JCC’s J Family Ambassador Lead.

SUMMARY:From Alliance to Friendship: Blacks\, Jews and Pluralistic Peoplehood
DESCRIPTION:The Fifth Annual Distinguished Lecture in Judaic Studies at George Mason University. Dr. David Weinfeld of Rowan University will be giving a talk that traces the history of two figures\, Jewish immigrant Horace Kallen and Black philosopher Alain Locke\, whose conversations helped shape the idea of cultural pluralism—the precursor to modern multiculturalism. Drawing on their story\, Dr. Weinfeld offers a new framework for imagining Black-Jewish relations\, one focused on friendship rather than alliance.   \nThe lecture will be followed by a conversation between the guest lecturer and Dr. LaNitra Berger\, Associate Professor of History and Art History and Director of African and African American Studies at George Mason University and Board President of the Pozez JCC. \nCo-sponsored by GMU Judaic Studies\, Mason Hillel\, the Pozez JCC\, the JCRC of Greater Washington\, and GMU African and African American Studies
