Federation’s Rabbinic Mission to Israel: A Message from Zach Briton

I am proud to share with you that last night, our CEO, Gil Preuss, and a cohort of rabbis and spiritual leaders from congregations across Greater Washington embarked on a very special Federation Rabbinic Mission to Israel. We are honored that this group is among the first missions to visit Israel since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the recent violence in the region, this unique group will connect with many of the Israeli scholars, leaders, and social change agents who are deeply engaged in today’s complex issues. Both during and after their travels, the Mission participants will play a vital role in shaping the dialogue around rebuilding a rich and vibrant shared society in Israel.

Their learning and travels will focus on ending the cycle of violence, creating a path to move forward, and other intricate and multifaceted topics vital to the future of Israel and the region, while reaffirming the centrality of Israel to global Jewish peoplehood.

We know that as our local leaders return enriched by this journey, they will be able to channel their experiences into lessons and lasting impact for our community.

We look forward to sharing additional updates this week on the Rabbinic Mission, and to bringing you more information on how, with your support, we continue to meet evolving needs in Israel.

With thanks and prayers for continued peace,

Zach Briton
Chief Development Officer
The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington
