A Message from Robin: November 2019

Robin Weinberg

It took a mere seven hours and 17 minutes for history to be made. You could just make out the two shadowy figures in white bulky gear working outside the International Space Station. Last month, the first all-women spacewalk took place. What was also astounding was that the walk, scheduled for last year, was postponed because NASA didn’t have two appropriately-sized spacesuits available.

Why are women not on equal footing as men? At Women’s Philanthropy, we know women are indispensable architects in creating community and empowering one another as leaders, role models, and influencers.

We bring women and ideas together across the community in shared purpose. We are the place for you to explore and build your identity as we reimagine Jewish life. Over the past year we have:

  • Visited with community leaders on a local mission to see what we are funding in our own backyard
  • Journeyed to Poland and Israel for a mission to meet our past and see our future
  • Met with a women entrepreneur at Rent the Runway
  • Led group discussions on topics ranging from anti-Semitism to work/volunteer/life balance with our Ora women
  • Engaged with women who are creating Jewish journeys for young adults through Birthright Israel, the Den, and Moishe House
  • Invested in text study and peer learning to enrich and equip women in their role as communal leaders
  • Created opportunities for networking and learning from one another

We have accomplished a lot together. I am excited to see our impact as funders, visionaries, and leaders in 2020.

Enjoy our new quarterly newsletter, WP Notes. It’s our way of keeping us connected.

Thank you for your commitment and financial support to Federation.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Robin
