A thank you from the VOICES Co-Chairs: |
On Monday, May 16th, over 500 women from the Greater Washington area came together for The Jewish Federation’s 3rd annual VOICES event.
The evening started off with a very special VIP Pre-Reception for our Ruby Lions, who were given a chance to meet our guest and keynote speakers. Since VOICES was honoring our Past President’s of Women’s Philanthropy, these women were all invited to join us for the special occasion as well. It was nice to be able to have almost all of the Past President’s together in one room!
The main event began with everyone gathering at the cocktail reception to meet new people, catch up with old friends and learn more about Women’s Philanthropy. After enjoying the cocktails and good company, attendees moved into the ballroom for the program and dinner.
The program began with our guest speaker, Pnina Gaday, who shared her journey as she made aliyah to Israel with her family as a young child. Her story provided everyone with the opportunity to hear first-hand how their support of The Federation helps those in need. It truly was a moving and incredible story.
To conclude the evening, our keynote speaker, former CIA Operations Officer Valerie Plame Wilson, gave everyone a look into the inner workings of the CIA, and provided a detailed account of how she lived as a covert agent. Attendees were delighted at Valerie’s closing remarks on how she was quite proud of recently discovering her paternal grandfather was Jewish!
VOICES 2011 was truly remarkable, and Women’s Philanthropy is still receiving rave reviews! If you missed the marquee event of the year, please feel free view the photos above, and make sure to join Women’s Philanthropy at our future events!
