Fact of the Week Did you know… The Jewish Federation helps people locally, nationally and around the world during natural disasters ranging from hurricanes to earthquakes. During Hurricane Katrina, The Jewish Federation and its partner agencies provided a historic $28 million to those affected. The treacherous Haiti earthquake in 2010 saw $7.3 million raised and distributed to provide clean drinking water, medical care and much more. We are currently collecting funds to contribute to recovery and rebuilding in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. For more information or to make a donation on-line, click here.

Inclusion of all individuals is being supported right here in our own back yard. Through the award-winning inclusion program, Camp JCC at the JCC of Greater Washington serves childern with disabilities right alongside their siblings, neighbors and friends.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington provides support to 11 campus Hillels. With this support, the Hillels are able to engage students in Jewish life right on campus in a multitude of ways.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington provides support to seven regional Jewish youth groups that help engage Jewish teens in Jewish life. These youth groups offer teens a critical peer to peer Jewish social venue to explore their Judaism and connect with other teens in our community and nationally. Through these youth group activities, teens are able to have Shabbat experiences, engage in community service, develop leadership skills and integrate Israel into their lives.

In collaboration with out partner agencies, The Federation now offers a Coming of Age progam in Maryland and Northern Virginia. The program offers transportation, recreational opportunities and health/wellness services for 300-400 more independant seniors a month.
