- Screenings of the film Land of Genesis and Shalom Sesame
- Book collection for the English-language library in Bet Shemesh

- Dramatic readings of short stories by Etgar Keret
- A conversation b'ivrit with Ra'anan Gissin, former spokesperson for Ariel Sharon
- Krav Maga demonstrations

Special activities for young adults. The evening includes ethnic cooking demonstrations with cooks from Beit Shemesh, an Israeli wine tasting and more! The JCC of Greater Washington’s Israel Festival kicks off with a Teen event: Israeli film Mivtza Savta ("Operation Grandma") will be shown on our front lawn. $5 entry fee.
Sunday, May 22, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Events and performances free, food and arts for purchase.
Activity highlights include:
- Mezumenet, the UMDs girl-powered a cappella group
- Dance performance by Kinor
- Participatory dance with Yesodot and Kesem
- Israeli ethnic cooking demonstrations
- Entertainment; Blog – Spot!
- Speakers and café Q & A with Ra’anan Gissin
- Falafel and other Kosher food Israeli arts showcase
- A reggae performance by Axum
