Jewish tradition recognizes the unique needs, talents, and contributions of older adults.  The Federation helps support a network of services to keep seniors active, engaged and involved in lifelong learning.  The Jewish principles of bikur cholim and gemilut chasadim guide the provision of compassionate, high-quality services to frail older adults.

Federation supports a variety of opportunities that make this possible, including:

·          An array of programs to support active, vibrant aging.

·         Comprehensive information and referral services to help seniors connect with local services and opportunities.

·         Senior lunch programs at local JCCs and select other sites, which provide nutritious meal as well as recreational, fitness, and educational activities.

·       Kosher Meals on Wheels for those unable to prepare their own meals.

·         A full range of geriatric assessment, care planning and service coordination services.

·         Safe transportation options to community events.

·         A full range of classes to allow seniors to keep learning new skills and to explore the latest in arts, politics, and literature.

To maximize the effectiveness of these services, Federation draws on the support of a team of social service organizations, including:

·     Jewish Social Service Agency

·    Jewish Council for the Aging

·     JCC of Greater Washington

·     Washington DC JCC

·     JCC of Northern Virginia

·     Jewish Foundation for Group Homes

·     Charles E. Smith Life Communities
