Good news! The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, in partnership with the Foundation for Jewish Camp, offers funding to children living in the Greater Washington DC area who wish to attend Jewish overnight camp for the first-time.
To determine if you are eligible for a One Happy Camper grant, please read the paragraphs below. If you believe that your camper meets the criteria, please complete the application.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington's One Happy Camper Program provides grants to encourage children to attend overnight Jewish camp for the first-time. It is not a scholarship fund and is not needs-based. Our goal is to engage families who are considering sending their children to camp and, in effect, to give them $1,000 off their camp fee to try a Jewish one.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington’s One Happy Camper grants are awarded to first-time campers who attend a nonprofit Jewish overnight summer camp for at least 19 consecutive days. Eligible campers must be entering grades 1-12 (after camp) and live in the Greater Washington DC area. Funds will be forwarded directly to the camp and then the camp will reimburse you, if necessary.
FAMILIES SHOULD APPLY TO CAMPS SEPARATELY AS SPOTS FILL UP QUICKLY.
PLEASE DO NOT WAIT TO BE INFORMED ABOUT YOUR GRANT BEFORE YOU APPLY TO CAMP.
One Happy Camper is designed to engage children in Jewish life. Grants will be awarded to public or secular private school students. This program is an outreach initiative for children who are not currently receiving an immersive, daily Jewish experience. As such, children who attend Jewish day school or Yeshiva are not eligible for this program. The Jewish Federation supports students in Jewish day schools with allocations directed to their school to offset tuition. If your child is not eligible and/or you are interested in learning about financial-needs based grants or other camper funding opportunities please visit www.jewishcamp.org/scholarships or contact your camp.
