As a young adult in the Washington, DC Jewish community, you have the opportunity to make an impact. Through NeXus, you will explore what it means to be an influential Jewish young adult and find ways to make a true impact on the world through your involvement with The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. NeXus is an interactive program that will teach you about the work of The Jewish Federation, further develop your leadership skills and introduce you to other leaders in the DC Jewish community. Sample Curriculum

Session 1: Introduction: Your Call to Leadership and Service 
Why is The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington relevant to young leaders in the Jewish community? Begin to explore this question and how your involvement fits into your Jewish journey. 

Session 2: Jewish Identity: Up Close and Personal
Why be Jewish? Is it all about the matzah balls and bagels? This session will explore your Jewish identity up close and personal, and how the world around you makes an impact on who you are as a Jew.

Session 3:  Giving Your Time: Volunteer
This session will feature a hands-on service project with a partner agency of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington in the DC area.  You will have the opportunity to visit the agency, volunteer and learn more about how the agency serves the community. 

Session 4:  Giving Your Treasure:  Donate
Learn how members of our community engage in dialogue to make decisions about how  the dollars raised by The Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign are distributed to Jews in need in our community, in Israel and around the world.

Session 5: Giving Your Talents: Get Involved 
Learn the important art of telling your story in order to positively impact your professional and philanthropic influence, and hear from one of Federation’s successful leaders about their Jewish and philanthropic journey.

Session 6: Charting Your Jewish Leadership Course: What’s Nex-t-us?
Spend the last session learning how to take what you have learned and step into a leadership role in the Jewish community.  Hear from past alumni of NeXus and how they have remained involved with Federation and other organizations across Greater Washington.
