Into The Depths: Exploring the Idea & Practice of Mikvah
The Adas Israel Community Mikvah and Adas Israel Congregation Lifelong Learning 5750 are pleased to announce this learning opportunity. This three part class, taught by Rabbi Batya Steinlauf, will focus on the power of water in Judaism and seek to understand how immersion in a mikvah connects us with the Source of Life.
This class is for you if you:
· have never been to a mikvah but are curious
· went to a mikvah once and meant to go again but never did
· have issues with the idea of mikvah but have never explored them in a safe place
· like relaxing in warm water.
We will look at the traditional roles, understandings and uses for mikvah, as well as explore modern concepts and rituals. We will visit the mikvah and learn the symbolism of its design. Jewish women and men of all ages are welcome.
The tuition, including all materials, is $36. There is a dinner option before the class, from 6:30-7:15pm. To register for the dinners and/or the class, please see information below. For all other questions, please contact the Mikvah Director, Naomi Malka at 202.841.8776 or mikvah@adasisrael.org.
