Judaism and Health Care

Health care is in the news everyday. The rising cost of health care creates a considerable challenge to the core Jewish value of preservation of health. Rabbi Breitowitz will explore the Jewish wisdom and beliefs that guide us in dealing with this timely issue.

·         Is health care a right or a privilege? Who should pay for it?

·         Should access to health care be determined by personal lifestyle choices, (e.g. an alcoholic being ineligible for a liver transplant)?

·         How do we balance the need to treat illness with programs that focus on wellness and prevention?
